i7 Laptop Prices in UAE: Best Used Core i7 Laptops for Every Budget
All month we've been talking about laptop prices and how to stretch a tight budget. This one is for a different customer.
You don't want a tip for saving 100 dirhams. You want performance. You're looking at Core i7.
"i7 means expensive." Not quite.
A lot of customers get nervous when they see i7. They assume it's a serious, expensive machine. And often the i7 laptops they've seen are expensive.
But it's usually not the processor making it expensive. It's everything sold with it.
Because i7 is the higher-end chip, manufacturers usually pair it with higher-end parts:
-
More RAM. i7 laptops typically come with 16GB.
-
Bigger SSDs. 512GB is the usual pairing.
-
A dedicated GPU. i7s are powerful chips, so they're often put into machines with a graphics card, and that GPU pushes the price up a lot.
Strip those away and an i7 isn't scary at all. You can buy an i7 with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD and upgrade the RAM later when you need it.
What actually decides an i7 laptop's price
Same as any laptop, and same as we covered in our earlier blogs [LINK TO BLOG #2]:
-
Generation. An 11th Gen i7 is a very different machine from a 6th Gen i7.
-
RAM. And this year, with RAM costs doubled, this matters more than usual.
-
Storage.
-
The model itself. A Latitude 5000 and a Precision workstation are different leagues, even with the same chip.
-
The GPU, if there is one.
Here's something that surprises people. An older generation i7 can be cheaper than a newer i3. In our store right now, a Dell Latitude 7470 with a 6th Gen i7 is 599.99 AED, while a Dell Inspiron 3520 with a 12th Gen i3 is 749.99 AED. The badge alone tells you very little.
